4K Restoration – Australian Premiere
“A lean, mean and grim sci-fi horror show that might make you look at your appliances in a whole new light.” – JoBlo
“Watching Hardware is like being trapped inside a video game that talks dirty.” – The New York Times
Remastered to 4K by Umbrella Entertainment to coincide with its 35th anniversary, Hardware is a fever dream of gore, sex, sweat, grease and sand.
The stylish directorial debut of Richard Stanley (Color Out of Space, Dust Devil), Hardware is set in a dystopic future world that’s been scarred by nuclear radiation. Mo (Dylan McDermott, American Horror Story) is a ‘Zone Tripper’ who brings home a battered cyborg for his metal-sculptor girlfriend, Jill (Stacey Travis, Ghost World). Little do they know, this steel scrap contains the brain of the M.A.R.K. 13, the military’s most ferocious bio-mechanical combat droid. It is cunning, cruel and can reassemble itself. Tonight, it is reborn, and no flesh shall be spared.
Melding hard rock, industrial horror and cyberpunk dystopia, this cult classic is a pulse-pounding warning about the dangers of unchecked technology. Keep an eye out for cameos from Iggy Pop, Carl McCoy from goth-rock band Fields of the Nephilim and Lemmy from Motörhead.
