An inspiring documentary detailing the story of the children who grew up in Israeli air force bases housing projects of the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Director Yoram Ivry recounts his personal childhood, living in a civilian housing complex surrounded by a bustling military base where his father served. Cockpits and runways served as playgrounds, and the children had endless freedom and a sense of belonging. Ivry interviews childhood friends and uses his brother’s secret diary, found years after his tragic death, to document the complex experience of growing up protected by fences and guards, but also faced with the harsh realities of war. Celebrating the heroism and can-do attitude of Israeli pilots, Air Born also touchingly conveys the personal toll on the children who grew up on Israeli force bases.
